Wind farms internal roads optimization considering no go areas

Internal roads optimization: an update

These vacation days I am managing to find time to work on my “automatic wind farm optimization” project.
Yesterday I managed to add a new feature to the optimization of wind farm internal roads.
In the new version, the algorithm is also able to consider existing roads and “no-go-areas” (areas that cannot be used due to environmental restrictions, lack of permits, etc.).
The solution now “prefers” the use of existing roads (which as such are “free”) and avoids prohibited areas.

In the image above you can see how the road avoids the prohibited areas in red by trying to minimize the use of road sections with formte slopes.

In the image below you can see how the road uses as much as possible the existing road (in light blue) to connect the turbines. Again, areas in red that cannot be accessed are avoided.

In the coming days I will try to add the ability to export the information in various formats (DXF for visual elements, XLS for quantities). I also want to better integrate the generation of roads with the calculation of the medium voltage network.
